An easy to use and feature rich thermostat I’ve used quite a lot of thermostats, from the normal AA battery four wire, to the mercury switch type of old, to a pneumatic thermostat that gets stuck all the time.This thermostat is not only the most advanced and feature rich thermostat I’ve ever used, it’s not even really comparable to the others. There are some hangups I had about this device I’ll share, but there’s also quite a bit of new functionality that should add a lot of convenience.Product Quality:Fit and finish are approximately the same as the White Rodgers thermostats I’ve used, which ranged in price from fifty to one hundred dollars. That’s a good thing. It’s a bit nicer than a Lux model. I installed a $45 Honeywell in my in-law’s house a few years ago and it had a similar quality and has lasted. In short, the quality appears to be good enough to last for many years, but it also doesn’t have the upscale finish that some other thermostats in this price range show…
very disappointed We had the thermostat professionally installed and it worked great for 1 week. After a week it stopped responding to voice command and in the middle of the night would prompt for a voice command.After 3 weeks, our HVAC stopped completely. Since the thermostat had been working for 3 weeks, I figured it had to be the HVAC. Well a $200.00 diagnostic later I learned that the thermostat has stopped working. Reinstalling the original “non-smart” Honeywell thermostat resolved the issue.I may have gotten a lemon, but I’m afraid of the cost to find out if it was just a bad unit or a bad design.While it did work, I will note that I was disappointed that the device did not have any option to perform a software update. Love the display, but voice commands are flakey and not worth the extra cost This is the third WIFI controlled thermostat I’ve installed in the last three or four years. I started out with a 3M one that had worked fine, but apparently they had so many people on their network that changing the system temp from a phone, webpage, or iPad took over 10 minutes to actually update my thermostat. I got tired of that delay, did some searching, and picked the Ecobee over the Nest. I’ve been using my Ecobee for the last 7 months or so, and love it. When this came up on the Vine program, I almost passed since I had JUST installed the Ecobee recently, and didn’t want to go through the hassle of changing out. But the voice control intrigued me, since I have a lot of things in my house controlled either by voice or by wireless.The installation was actually incredibly easy becuase of my Ecobee.
