Hunter (44905) 7-day Programmable Themostat .. a Jewel Seven-day programmable thermostats are more flexible today but I can’t say that one is better than the other one, because I didn’t buy them all and check them all out. However, I do know what has worked for me and my family for years and why I am staying with Hunter. After removing thermostats and replacing them with Hunters in the past; there was a good reason … quality, ease of operation, good support and durability. Consumer Reports (CR) rates (a scoring based on several measurable factors) seven-day programmable thermostats as best to least as follows: LUX, ACE, White Rogers, Hunter, CTC, Robert Shaw, Trane, Honeywell and ICM Controls. I am not a dye-in the wool believer that the best is the best or the least is the least in their ratings but I do read what they have to say and why they say it. Cannot recomment this product Bought this unit last July. Easily installed and worked fine until today (Saturday 1/25/14). This morning I noticed the furnace was not working and when I checked the thermostat the numbers on the digital display were continually racing up and down. Reviewed the user manual and pulled the batteries to reset the unit. Did this several times and it still did not work. The entire touch screen was simply not responding to anything. Went to the Hunter website and it stated that technical support was available on Saturday’s 11:00am – 4:00pm CST. Called the Hunter technical support line several times and kept getting a recording stating that they were closed and to call back during normal business hours in the week.Unfortunately, you don’t realize how critical of a device a thermostat is until it stops working. I live in the Chicago area and we have had bitterly cold weather and during the writing of this review we are going through yet again another very cold spell. That the…
