With advanced features the software knows when you are away from home an automatically turns down the temperature and when you get within a user specified range it turns the temperature back up so the house is comfortable when you arrive. The CT50 can control up to 2 stages of heat and 2 stages of cool. The CT50 allows you to program up to 4 independent periods per day. One of the best thermostats available, very reliable. I LOVE this thermostat. They use to sell the exact same thing at home depot marketed as the 3M-50 for $100. You can no longer get them at the store. You do need to know before buying this, setup IS more difficult than say a nest. I have no interest in nest as this thermostat will allow FULL CONTROL of your house. You will need to hook up your C-Wire to this unit for power or it simply will not work. If you can be patient with the setup process, once it’s up and running you set it and forget it…

Very pleased – great alternative wifi thermostat. Wife calls it the “egg” I have owned two of these for quite some time and I am very happy with them. They are an excellent alternative to some of the more expensive wifi thermostats out there. They do take a little bit of technical knowledge and ability, but if you understand wireless, computers, and have basic technical skills it really isn’t that difficult.

During setup, you register it with my.radiothermostat.com, which allows you to use the web interface or mobile apps to configure/program/change current settings on your thermostat. The operation appears to be that the thermostat unit keeps the program internally. Thus, if you lose your internet connection, the thermostat will continue to do whatever it was programmed to.
