A good budget wifi thermostat – Could be easier to install… I picked up this thermostat at Lowes. I had expected to pay $150 for Honeywell’s touchscreen wifi thermostat or as much as $180 for last year’s nest. I was pleasantly surprised to see a wifi thermostat option for around $120.

I am hopeful my second one last as it is great when it works and helpful to be able to … The thermostat failed after 2 years in service. It worked well for the first two years, so much so that last year I bought a second one for a different heating zone. No way a thermostat should fail so quickly – yet Honeywell must know something as they only warranty the product for one year! I am hopeful my second one last as it is great when it works and helpful to be able to monitor and change the heat settings remotely (we use this at a beach house that is empty most of the winter)…

WIFI Connectivity did not go smoothly Looking at the reviews and documentation it appeared that this would be a slam dunk. Of course it was complicated first by the fact we were replacing a furnace and the furnace guy was busy. Whatever. On the positive side one I got it working and installed the iPhone app it was great. Product documentation was well-written but weak on problem solving.
