Finally an Improved Alternative to the Nest I am a pretty big tech geek, and the smart home stuff has become a big interest for me recently. I can control my sprinklers and garage door from my phone/PC, and wanted to do the same with my thermostat. I had looked into the Nest and ecobee smart thermostats but both had limitations that held me back from actually buying them (see below). When I first saw this new Honeywell thermostat, it finally had everything I wanted and pushed me to actually go out and buy it.

Excellent thermostat. Better than Nest. I purchased a Nest thermostat several days ago based on the recommendations of various people (all Apple lovers) and favorable reviews. The Nest is elegant, and it does have an Apple-like look, but I didn’t like it.

REALLY liked at first, but had issues over time. I bought this unit approx. 2 years ago and would say at first that I really loved this unit but I have had issues since. Right before the first year warranty ended the unit started automatically going to 73 degrees. It was weird, no matter what degree I had it set, it would randomly go the 73. Let me back up and say that I know it wasn’t a programming issue on my end. I don’t even use any of the programming features that change the thermostat in the morning to a certain degree and then…
